Hello from The Farm!
It’s been awhile since I have posted from our little corner of Gaston County. Really, a long while, so if you are still a subscriber to the blog, thank you!
2023 began with a tremendous loss for our family with the unexpected passing of Carl’s youngest brother Wes. When tragedy strikes, a blog post seems so insignificant and irrelevant. Sharing farmlife, while near and dear to my heart, hardly felt right or even necessary. What do you say about livestock or farm projects when your heart grieves?
However, sharing life, whether in a broader sense, or focused on the farm, is a privilege and a joy. Life is a beautiful tapestry of the profound and the mundane, woven together in a way that connects us all. None of us is immune to loss or struggles. We all experience the heavy, weightier facets of life.
Yet, celebrations like the arrival of new pigs this week remind us of the simple pleasures on the farm. Rejoicing in the birth of another granddaughter (last summer) juxtaposed to mourning the tragic loss of a loved one are part of the complexities of life this side of heaven. Being transparent about the good and the bad remind us that we are not alone as we do life together. Hence, I write this post.
So, with a renewed determination to share on a more regular basis, we have updated the website and hope you will continue to follow along as we restore our family farm, one project at a time. Love big, tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, and be a light each day! Oh, and if you get the opportunity, go see the movie Jesus Revolution this week. Or better yet, get connected to a Bible-preaching, Bible-believing church near you! Life is short, make the most of every moment!
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and he will direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
