Blackberries!

Hello from The Farm at Crowders Creek. I hope that you are having a great week and that you are enjoying these first few official days of summer! Last week I posted a short video on Instagram in which I promised that I would share my blackberry cobbler recipe and some information about the blackberry wine I am making. So, as promised, let’s get to it!

The cobbler is great served with ice cream or whipped cream too! I’d love to hear from you if you give it a try. You can leave a comment here on the blog or follow me on Instagram @farmlivinglaura. Let me know what you think!

Now, for the blackberry wine! Winemaking is a new undertaking for me, so by no means am I an expert. This May I started a one-gallon batch of strawberry wine and I think I am hooked! I loved it so much that I started a 3-gallon batch of peach wine too. Once I picked the blackberries, I had give blackberry wine a try too! For all of the recipes, I am using a handy little book I got on Amazon titled Winemaker’s recipe handbook. It is by Raymond Massaccesi and so far, it has been a great resource.

As the summer unfolds, I hope you will visit a farmer’s market, support your local growers and create some delicious seasonal dishes to enjoy with your family and friends. My zucchinis are ripe and I have been baking bread and making zoodles (zucchini noodles) as well as yummy roasted vegetables too. Now, if I can just be patient for the next six months to a year to let you know how the wine tastes!

Have a wonderful day! Take care and remember to #BeLight!

“…The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.”

Psalm 33:5 (NKJV)
